Jean-Baptiste Babin Tapped as Managing Director of Millimages

Jean-Baptiste Babin, the co-founder of Backup Media Group, has joined French animation powerhouse Millimages as managing director.Babin announced earlier this month that he would be stepping down from his operational role at Backup Media Group before the end of the year.

At Millimages, Babin will be in charge of spearheading the company’s production, international distribution, merchandising and new media activities. Millimages boasts a library of more than 1,000 hours of TV series and feature films, including “Les Lascars” (both the series and the film), “Didou,” “Molang,” “Corneil et Bernie,” “64, rue du Zoo,” and the feature film “Renaissance.”

Babin founded Backup with David Atlan Jackson and Joel Thibout in 2002, after working in the law firms Sullivan & Cromwell and Allen & Overy, and a stint at Elzevir Films, where he was in charge of business and legal affairs.

At Millimages, Babin will work alongside the company’s president, Roch Lener. “Millimages has developed world-renowned brands such as ‘Molang’ and achieved it by fully producing in France. I am very proud to become the ambassador and driver of this ambition alongside Roch Lener and his collaborators,” said Babin.

Lener said that the “digital revolution which impacts our industry is bringing many opportunities.” He added that “Jean-Baptiste has the experience and a taste for entrepreneurship. His passion and creative ambition are major assets for the future of Millimages.”
